For all who were lucky enough to come along for one of the many Death Valley trips this will be the place to relive some of those great experiences - or, if you did not get the chance to come then this will be your inspiration to go there yourself.

To the left you will find links that correspond to each day of the Death Valley Trip.   The starting and ending points for each days are:

  • Day 1 College of Marin to Carson City
  • Day 2 Carson City to Bishop
  • Day 3 Bishop to Panamint Springs                            "This is the best learning experience I have ever had.."
  • Day 4 Panamint Springs to Furnace Creek                                                       Dave Harris - 1969
  • Day 5 Furnace Creek
  • Day 6 Furnace Creek to Barstow
  • Day 7 Barstow to Morro Bay
  • Day 8 Morro Bay to Monterey
  • Day 9 Monterey to College of Marin

What you will find are collections of comments, pictures, poems, and facts that have been pulled mainly from the journals of those who experienced this journey of our state.   Hopefully you will get a feeling for the huge amount of knowledge that emerged from these adventures.  And, maybe even greater, the enlightening experience many had and will remember forever.  So, turn on you CB radio, stock up you gorp, load your camera, and get on the big yellow bus (hope it starts!!) that's heading for the desert.

Let's start off with a few pictures....

Salt Creek - home of the famous puff fish

"Once upon a time I had an outstanding professor, who I hold very dear to my heart.  He let me on all sorts of adventures  in the wondland of knowledge.  He showed my my first real live Phoronopsis harmeri, my first moss gametophyte, and   many other wonderous things.  The essence of life within all these living creatures danced with his patience, enthusiastic   explanations; and I danced too.

Then there came a time when this "teacher" led me on the ultimate trip.  These pages are an attempt at sorting out the
knowledge, experiences, and joy attained from this adventure..."
